Overview and Mission

We are a church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.  Liberated by God’s unconditional love shown through Christ, we embrace you as a whole person – questions, complexities and all.  We have them too.

Our aim is to create community that affirms, welcomes and supports everyone just the way they are in age, race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic or family status, or physical or mental abilities.

Come add your perspectives and life experiences to the diversity of views as we gather to share each hope and dream, each challenge and concern, each joy and lament through support and care for one another.  We don’t always do it perfectly cause we are human, but we lean on God’s grace and the Spirit to further open our hearts and minds in bountiful and amazing ways when we come together and through our daily lives.

As a community transformed by God’s grace and love for all of creation, we focus on building relationships with the wider communities of the northern San Francisco peninsula; from its local neighborhoods of Avalon, Sierra Highlands, Sunshine Gardens, Westborough and Buri Buri, to its relationships with San Bruno and Millbrae just south, as well as connections to Pacifica, Daily City, Colma and San Francisco towards the ocean and north.

Unity Lutheran Church Mission Statement:

Joining church and community through Christ’s love for all creation.

and our tagline:

. . . let love prevail

Take a look at our ACTIVITIES and HISTORY menus above; from our community lunches and garden, to our relationships with ministry partners. We’ve also developed and maintain in-house offerings like our mobile meals, food pantry and wardrobe programs; resources for our wider community as a whole.

God’s work is about restoration and reconciliation, building up the message of love, respect and authenticity for one another.

Join us as we do God’s work in Christ’s name for the life of the world.

Established in 1954, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church formed in South San Francisco at the corner of Southwood Drive and the El Camino Real.  We are a community within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  In 2015, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran filed for dba (doing business as) Unity Lutheran Church to better reflect our mission: Joining church and community through Christ’s love for all creation.
